New rules for a quieter Bucharest Old Town

The Bucharest municipality has imposed new rules for the bars and terraces in the capital’s Old Town, one of the most crowded places in the city. The regulations of a General Council Decision were approved earlier this month. According to these regulations, the terraces in Bucharest’s Old Town need a functioning permit from the Directorate General of Urban Development. Moreover, they will no longer be equipped with TVs, plasma screens or video projectors, reports local Romaniatv.net. Ornamental flowers made of plastic, artificial decorative plants, building platforms and the use of carpets made of plastics, as well as folding terrace furniture or plastic furniture will no longer be permitted in the Old Town. Outdoor food preparation is also banned in the Old Town’s area, except when it comes to stands placed there during short cultural events. Private festive evenings, such as weddings or baptisms, can no longer be organized on the seasonal terraces in the area, and live music and performances must finish before 22:00.
