The net investments in the Romanian economy totaled EUR 2.6 billion in the first quarter of the year, up 8.5% year-on-year. The increase was due to a 16% growth in new construction work investments, 3.8% higher investments in equipment and 0.4% in other expenses, according to the National Institute of Statistics. The investments in new construction work reached EUR 1.1 billion, whereas those in equipment amounted to EUR 1.2 billion.
