National Liberal Party in Romania wants Govt. takeover via no-confidence motion against the Ponta Cabinet

Alina Gorghiu and Vasile Blaga, the co-presidents of the Romanian National Liberal Party PNL, recently said they want a Government change by initiating a no-confidence motion against the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Victor Ponta and by negotiating a majority in the current Parliament. They believe there wouldn’t be enough political support for early elections, as many members of the Parliament don’t want to lose their seats, with more than one year to go until the parliamentary elections in 2016. According to the Constitution, the mechanism of dissolution of the Parliament and the initiation of early elections is determined by the rejection of two Government investiture proposals. Alina Gorghiu talked about how PNL wants a government takeover, bringing up the idea of early parliamentary elections: “First of all, we want early elections. Of course, we are not children, we know this is something extremely difficult to meet,” reports local Mediafax. She added that a no-confidence motion will be submitted during the parliamentary session that will begin on February 1, but the exact theme and submission date will be determined after the Government program will be completed.
