Romania’s economy had a share of 0.33% in the global GDP last year, same as in 1984, said the Romanian MP Andreea Paul. The European Union had a contribution of 23% to the global GDP. It also included 8% of the world’s population. Within the EU, Romania contributed by 1% to the GDP and by 4% to the European population. Romania is facing a huge gap of competitiveness, said Paul, cited by local Agerpres. The country needs to escape the scenario of a small economy, with big consumers and small producers, she added. Romania had a GDP of some EUR 160 billion last year. editor@romania-insider.com
