Over 700 local merchants have taken up the LaDoiPasi franchise model launched by Metro Cash & Carry two years ago, the retailer currently being present in every county across Romania, reads a statement of the company. Most of the stores are located in Constanta county - 47 operational stores, followed by Brasov with 42 units, and Bucuresti and Iasi - 37 stores each. LaDoiPasi franchise targets small local merchants. The retailers receive consultancy, and assistance from the company. Metro Cash & Carry International opened the first store in Romania in 1996, currently running 32 stores on the local market.
