Metrorex to expand fourth metro line in Bucharest with EUR 300 mln

Metrorex, the metro network operator in Bucharest, plans to expand its fourth line with two more stops, reaching Straulesti Lake, where a node will be built, with a parking, a dispatcher and a bus stop. The investment is estimated at around EUR 300 million, according to the company. The investment will cover four years and will be financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank, from the state budget and from Metrorex' own sources. Line 4 currently has four stations, Gara de Nord 2, Basarab 2, Grivita and 1 Mai, and in July two other will be opened, Pajura and Bazilescu Park. The next two stations are Laminorului and Straulesti Lake. The carrying capacity of the section will be of 50,000 people per hour, and Line 4 will have a total length of 7.8 km, with eight stations.
