Bucharest metro in talks with French company for anti-suicide sliding glass doors

Bucharest metro operator Metrorex has received an offer to install sliding doors on the Victoriei metro station platform from the association of TIAB and Vinci Logic IT Consult. The metro operator is discussing with the French company on this offer, Metrorex confirmed after local Profit.ro published a news on this subject. But a pilot project would require a public tender procedure, it added. So far, Metrorex has not found all the needed conditions to install sliding doors – or anti-suicide doors – on all its platforms in Bucharest metro stations. The metro operator does not have any financing in place for such a project. A young woman died last year in December after being pushed in front of the metro in Bucharest, triggering discussions about the need for sliding doors and glass panels to protect passengers. editor@romania-insider.com
