Mega Image ups share capital by EUR 25 mln to support expansion in Romania

Retailer Mega Image increased its share capital by EUR 25.2 million in April to finance expansion plans and the construction of a new warehouse in Bucharest. “The increase of Mega Image Romania’s share capital follows the development plans we have for the next period, which includes both our stores, the logistic warehouse, but also positioning towards consumers,” Mihai Spulber, financial manager Mega Image Romania, told local newswire Mediafax. In March, Frans Muller, the general director of the Belgian Delhaize group which owns Mega Image, said that the retailer will continue expansion in Bucharest, where it will also build a new distribution center to support these plans. The expansion outside Romania’s capital, where the purchasing power is low, remains questionable, he added.
