Mastercard: Romania, fifth in Europe for contactless payments

Two out of three payments made at retailers in Romania with Mastercard cards are contactless. Thus, Romania ranks fifth in Europe for the share of contactless payments in the total number of card payments at retailers, according to the company. Contactless payments in Romania increased by 139% in the first eight months of this year compared to the same period of 2017, reaching almost 70% of the payments at retailers, according to Mastercard.
