Market value of listed Romanian companies exceeds EUR 20 bln

The market value of the Romanian companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) exceeded EUR 20.2 billion at the end of July. "The value of the Romanian companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange grew by almost EUR 8 billion in just four years," said BVB president Lucian Anghel, reports local agerpres. According to BVB, the Romanian and foreign companies listed on the Bucharest bourse had a total capitalization of EUR 23.2 billion at the end of July 2013. Their total capitalization reached EUR 35.5 billion at the end of July this year, up 53%. "As the local capital market takes steps towards the Emerging Market status, access to larger capital flows will increase,” Anghel added. The market value of the Romanian companies listed on the Bucharest bourse reached EUR 20.4 billion in May, the highest level in the last nine years, after the listing of Digi Communications, a major supplier of telecom services in Romania and Hungary. editor@romania-insider.com
