Low cost flights moved to Otopeni airport, Baneasa to handle business flights

Romania's Transport Ministry plans to convert Bucharest's Aurel Vlaicu (Baneasa) Airport into one reserved for business flights and move low-cost traffic to the Henri Coanda Airport in the nearby town of Otopeni, which will mean higher costs for budget airlines and higher ticket prices. The ministry intends to complete these changes by 2012-2013, through a EUR 1 million investment. By next summer, the airport will be reorganized. Most flights will be low-capacity, around eight-ten seats, and business traffic will account for at least 80 percent. There will also be terminals dedicated to general aviation and VIP flights.
