Low cost airline Ryanair aims for half a million passengers a year after adding two new Bucharest routes

Irish low cost airline Ryanair will increase the number of Bucharest routes this summer, with two new routes to Brussels and Madrid. These will help Ryanair carry 500,000 passengers a year to and from the Bucharest airport, it said in a statement. The airline carried 250,000 passengers on Bucharest routes in just over 10 months of operating to Otopeni Airport. The company’s Bucharest 2015 summer schedule comprises a total of four Bucharest routes: Brussels (one daily flight), Dublin (four weekly flights), London (2 daily flights) and Madrid (one daily flight). “Ryanair is pleased to announce record forward bookings at Bucharest Airport which includes two new routes to Brussels and Madrid (4 in total), which will deliver almost 500,000 customers per year and support 500“on-site” jobs at Bucharest Airport,” said Ryanair’s Deputy Sales & Marketing Manager for Romania, Katarzyna Gaborec-McEvoy. Set up in 1985, Ryanair carries 100 million people annually, between 30 countries. The airline’s main competitors on the local market are Wizz Air and Blue Air.
