Logan remains Renault’s best-selling model outside Europe

Romanian car producer Dacia, owned by the French group Renault, saw record sales in the first half of the year. The company, however, hasn’t been Renault’s engine growth anymore. Dacia sales rose by 2.7% during this period reaching over 297,600 cars whereas the Renault brand sales increased by 16% year-on-year to 1.2 million units. Dacia registrations were boosted by the results in Europe, with the highest increase in France, but were pulled down by the market in Algeria outside Europe. Logan remains the best-selling Renault model outside Europe, with 125,900 units delivered in the first six months of the year, up 4% compared to the same period last year. At group level, Renault recorded revenues of EUR 25.18 billion, up 13.4% year-on-year whereas the net profit advanced by 8.8% to EUR 1.5 billion. Renault bought Dacia from the Romanian state in 1999. In 2015 Dacia saw a turnover of EUR 4.3 billion, up 1.7% year-on-year and a net profit of EUR 100 million, up 20%. It had 13,884 employees. editor@romania-insider.com
