Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania increases capital by EUR 75 mln

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Romania will increase its capital by EUR 75 million through a new share issuance underwritten pro-quota by its two shareholders, namely Intesa Sanpaolo SpA which owns 99.61 percent from the shares and Intesa Sanpaolo Holding International S.A. with 0.39 percent, according to the bank.

‘Intesa Sanpaolo is one of the two European financial groups present in Romania that doesn’t need additional capital. In the current economic context the support of our strong shareholders is an important competitive advantage and a sign of trust for all our partners and in the future of the country,” said Ezio Salvai, CEO Intesa Sanpaolo Bank.

This increase will sustain the consolidation of the bank’s position on the local market, but also the merger process between Intesa Sanpaolo Bank and CR Firenze scheduled for the first half of the year.

Intesa Sanpaolo Bank is part of the Italian Intesa Sanpaolo Group. The group’s international activities are focused on Central Eastern Europe and Middle Eastern and North African areas, where it operates in 13 countries.
