Swedish group IKEA’s online sales in Romania represented 7% of its total sales locally. This has happened in less than one year after the company launched its platform for online orders. About 17% of the orders come from Bucharest, and 79% of all orders are for furniture, while 21%, for accessories, according to Mihaela Muresan, IKEA’s marketing manager, cited by local Wall-street.ro. Around half of IKEA’s customers search information online before coming to the store. Meanwhile, 15% of the Bucharest customers would prefer to test the products in the store, before buying them online. The IKEA platform for online sales has a ten times lower traffic than the IKEA store in northern Bucharest. editor@romania-insider.com
