How many Romanians believe in God?

Romanians are religious people who believe in God, saints and respect religious holidays, according to a recent survey made by social research company INSCOP at the request of Adevarul newspaper. Some 84% of Romanians consider themselves to be religious and only 10% say they are non-religious. However, religious or not, an astonishing 96.5% of Romanians say they believe in God while less than 2% don’t believe in divinity. Romanians also believe in saints (84.4%), Heaven (60%), Hell (58%), and afterlife (54%). A large percentage of Romanians also have faith in priests (45%), miracles (42%), evil eye – deochi (31%), and curses (25.5%). Only 15% of Romanians believe in aliens or witchcraft. Some 83% of all Romanians respect religious holidays, three-quarters (75%) worship or make the sign of the cross when passing by churches, and two-thirds (65.6%) pray regularly. Over 60% say they bless their personal items, homes, cars with holy water while 54% pay regular contributions to the churches. Almost 40% also go to their priest when they have difficulties, 35% go to confession periodically, and 30% fast regularly.
