Romanian replaces expat at the helm of Holcim’s local operations

Horia Adrian, a Romanian executive with over 18 years of management experience within the LafargeHolcim group, has replaced Algerian-Canadian Sofiane Benmaghnia as Country CEO of Holcim Romania, starting February 1. Benmaghnia, who has been managing the company for two years, has decided to leave the group to pursue personal projects. Horia Adrian will also take on regional responsibilities, as Market head LafargeHolcim for Emerging Europe, a division that includes the group’s business in Serbia, Bulgaria, Moldova and Azerbaijan. The local managers in these markets will report to Horia Adrian, who will report directly to Romanian Marcel Cobuz, who was promoted at the helm of the group’s operations in Europe in December 2017. Adrian, 48, graduated from the Dunarea de Jor University in Galati and has an MBA from the University of Anjou. He has been working in the LafargeHolcim group since 2000, holding various management positions in Romania, Switzerland, Russia, Eastern Europe, Middle East. Holcim Romania had a turnover of EUR 226 million and a net profit of EUR 28.4 million in 2016. It has some 750 employees. editor@romania-insider.com
