Heineken asks shareholders for EUR 28.8 mln capital increase and Bucharest landplot sale

Beer producer Heineken Romania intends to increase its share capital by some EUR 28.8 million next year. The company's shareholders have been summoned to a meeting to decide on the share capital increase at the end of January. The meeting is also scheduled to approve the sale of a 2.7-hectare plot on Orhideelor St. in Bucharest, near the Basarab flyover. This plot hosts the Grivita beer factory, closed down in 2004, when Heineken moved production to its other factories.

A 14-building compound, including offices and a hotel, was to be built on the plot, according to data from Bucharest City Hall, which received notification for the project. The revamping process of the industrial area on Soseaua Orhideelor is awaiting the public vote for the Zonal Urban Planning (PUZ), which also requires approval from the Bucharest General Council. Heineken, the second largest beer producer in Romania based on turnover, made EUR 221 million in sales last year and a profit of EUR 31.5 million.
