Half of Romanians use the Internet

Almost half of Romanians (48%) use the Internet, compared to the average use in the European Union, which amounts to 75%, according to a recent report presented by the European Commission. About 17% of the Romanian internet users buy products online, whereas the EU average stands at 63%. Only 2% of the total number of internet users in Romania purchase online products from other countries, reports local Economica.net. In the European Union, by comparison, the average amounts to 18%. Many Romanian internet consumers (36%) are worried about their data security when they make an online payment, and 22% are concerned that they will not receive the ordered products. In Romania, only 7.3% of the small and medium-sized enterprises sell products or services online, compared to the EU average of 15%. Some 54% of the Romanian households use the broadband Internet, and 43% are connected to mobile broadband services. editor@romania-insider.com
