Bucharest subway operator Metrorex will receive EUR 320 million subsidies from the Government between 2016 and 2019. The subsidies will be granted as state aid, according to an emergency ordinance adopted by the Government yesterday. The company will get EUR 80.6 million this year. The subsidies will allow the metro operator to continue offering cheaper subscriptions to students and pensioners. Metrorex wants to access EU funds to modernize its Berceni-Pipera subway line, a EUR 112.4 million project. editor@romania-insider.com
