German and Romanian file complaint after assault by dog catchers in Bucharest

Two people, a Romanian and a German, filed a complaint at the police for allegedly being assaulted by a team of dog catchers in Bucharest. The incidents took place on Tuesday night (July 15), while representatives of some NGOs were watching the dog catchers’ operation. Sources from the police told local news agency Mediafaxthat a German and a Romanian filed a complaint for assault and other violent acts, and for destruction. The two argue that, together with another German citizen, were watching on Tuesday evening, from a car, the dog catchers while they were taking the dogs from the streets. At around 24,00, while the car was stopped on a street in Bucharest’s District 5, the three were allegedly attacked by a group of five or six people. The German citizen who filed the complaint said he was hit in the face by one of the attackers, while another one broke the car’s windshield. The policemen are investigating the complaint, trying to find the attackers, reports Mediafax. According to the sources, the attackers were not driving a car belonging to the teams of dog catchers, nor wearing any kind of insignia showing they were employees of the Authority for the Supervision and Protection of Animals.
