GEFCO eyes acquisitions and over EUR 50 mln in Romania

Transport and logistics company GEFCO Romania expects a turnover of EUR 50 million this year, up EUR 2.4 million on last year. The company, which is controlled by Russian state-owned railway company RZD, intends to expand via acquisitions. “In the first nine months, we’ve had a 5% increase,” said Christophe de Korver, general manager of Gefco Romania. This was supported by expansion on the auto segment, with the firm’s main clients being car makers Dacia and Ford. Bad infrastructure affects the company’s business in Romania, as well as competitors. “You have to drive a whole day to reach 500 kilometers,” said de Korver. The year started with high expectations, given the positive economy signs, but the summer was a weak one, and foreign investments stalled, he added. editor@romania-insider.com
