Gedeon Richter sees 20% higher sales in Romania

Hungarian pharma group Gedeon Richter saw an increase of 19.4% in its sales in Romania during the first six months of the year compared to the same period of 2015. The turnover reached EUR 88.5 million. The distribution and retail departments had the biggest contribution to the company’s sales. The group is active on the local pharma market via the drug store networks Pharmafarm and Gedeon Richter Farmacia. Gedeon Richter is also active in the production of medicines, and has a factory in Targu-Mures. The distribution firm Pharmafarm and its 100 pharmacies had sales of EUR 81.9 million in the first half of the year, up 22.4% compared to the same period in 2015. These accounted for 75% of the Hungarian group’s turnover in the region on the distribution and retail segments. The sale of drugs produced in Romania rose by 5.8% in the first six months of the year to EUR 14.6 million. editor@romania-insider.com
