Gasoline prices in Romania increased by over 11% in the first nine months of this year, while diesel prices went up by some 8%. These were the biggest increases registered among EU Member States, reports local Adevarul. In the beginning of this year, Romanians bought gasoline for almost EUR 1.25 per litre, at a rate of RON 4.4932 per EUR, while in early-October the price was of EUR 1.386 per litre, a growth of 11.15%. In the case of diesel, the price per litre increased from EUR 1.307 in early-2014, to EUR 1.408 in the beginning of October. This represents an increase of 7.75%. The main factor that triggered the price increases in Romania was the additional excise of 7 eurocents per litre introduced by the Government on April 1 Irina Popescu, irina.popescu@romania-insider.com
