Four Romanian companies fined EUR 5.6 mln for bid rigging

Romania's Competition Council fined four Romanian companies with some EUR 5.6 million for rigging two bids organized by Transgaz Medias, for gas connection contracts between 2009 and 2011. The fines were applied after an investigation into collusion between the companies that took part in the bid - Condmag Braşov, Inspet Ploieşti, Moldocor Piatra Neamţ and T.M.U.C.B

Condmag and Inspet were fined EUR 1 million and EUR 1.6 million respectively, while Moldocor got a EUR 500,000 fine, and TMUCB, the highest fine, of EUR 2.5 million. The first two companies agreed on correlating their offers, the same as the last two. Romania's Competition law forbids any kind of understanding between companies or associations, if it distorts competition. editor@romania-insider.com
