Four Hungarian citizens, including two Jobbik party members, banned from Romania for a year

Four Hungarian citizens, including two members of the Jobbik party and a Hungarian Parliament Member, have been banned from entering Romania for a year because of the risks they pose on public order, according to the spokesman of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The four Hungarians are Tyirityan Zsolt - member of the organization Outlaws’ Army, Zagyva Gyorgy Gyula - member of Jobbik and member of the Sixty-Four Counties Youth Movement HVIM, Szavay Istvan - member of Jobbik, and Mikola Bela - member of Hungarian Guard Movement. In the latter case, competent authorities asked the Court of Appeal to declare him undesirable. “Regarding these people, there are serious indications that they are part of structures involved in nationalist-extremist actions that present risks for public order and the national security of Romania,” said the ministry’s spokesman. The measure was taken to “prevent the occurrence of events that could seriously affect public order in Romania”. Relevant institutions are also keeping an eye on other persons who are continuously involved into activities against EU rules and national legislation in Romania. “The Romanian authorities are determined to firmly apply legislation in all the cases in which citizens of other countries, through public statements or any other actions taken in Romania, violate directly or instigates to violation of the country’s Constitution and laws,” said the spokesman. In a statement made earlier this month, the Romanian President Traian Basescu has asked the Romanian Government and Parliament to ban Hungarian “extremist” party Jobbik and its members from the country.
