Foreign currency reserves up EUR 1.1 bln in April

Romania’s foreign currency reserved totaled EUR 32.44 billion at the end of April, a growth of EUR 1.1 billion month-on-month, according to data from the Romanian Central Bank BNR. The international reserves stood at EUR 35.5 billion, up from EUR 34.4 billion at the end of March this year. The BNR saw EUR 2.5 billion worth of new entries, which covered the change in minimum foreign exchange reserved by banks, as well as money from the European Commission and the Ministry of Public Finances. The amount also included the EUR 1.25 billion raised by Eurobonds due in 2024. Meanwhile, payments from the country’s coffers stood at EUR 1.34 billion, again covering the change in minimum reserves by lenders, as well as instalments and interest rates on account of the public debt in foreign currency. The gold reserves were of 103.7 tonnes, the value of which stood at EUR 3.1 billion. editor@romania-insider.com
