Ford Romania closes Craiova factory for a month for maintenance, workers' holiday

The Ford car factory in Craiova, Romania, will be closed between July 24 and August 18, and all production and assembly lines will undergo general annual maintenance, according to the company’s representatives quoted by Agerpres. The factory’s employees will be on holiday during this period. The last working day for the factory’s employees is July 23, and on July 24 and 25 the production will be temporarily seized due to low demand for new cars on the European market. The employees’ holiday starts on July 26, according to Ford Romania’s spokesperson Ana Maria Timis. Last week, the general manager of Ford Romania, Zoltan Brassai, said that the factory is flexible and will produce according to market demand. The factory in Craiova produces the Ford B-Max model and 98 percent of the cars are exported. The factory also produces the EcoBoost engine for other Ford factories. Ford Romania had a turnover of EUR 1.1 billion and a net profit of EUR 15.6 million in 2013. The company had 3,448 employees, most of them in the Craiova factory. editor@romania-insider.com
