Five top universities from Romania have asked for a new pact for education in the next five years and for performance-based financing. These include the Bucharest University, the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi, the Academy of Economic Sciences in Bucharest, the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj Napoca and the West University in Timisoara, reports local Mediafax. The universities, which are part of the Universitaria Consortium, signed a resolution in Timisoara, at the end of last week. They suggest a bottom-up coordination, instead of a top-down approach, which generates unpredictability. Every government should accept these proposals, to ensure stability in higher education, according to the 5 universities. editor@romania-insider.com
