Five-company consortium wins EUR 248 mln contract for Curtici-Arad railway segment in Romania

Romanian state-owned railways company CFR SA has awarded the contract for rehabilitation works of the railway section Tronsonul 1 – Frontiera – Curtici – Arad-Km 614 to the Astaldi - Swietelsky – Alstom – Euro Construct – Dafora consortium, according to the company. The contract amounts to EUR 248.2 million, without VAT, and the works have to be finalized in 27 months. The funding sources are the European Commission, with 85 percent, and the Romanian Government with 15 percent. This announcement comes shortly after Romania’s CFR awarded another contract for construction works and installations on the Vintu de Jos – Simeria segment in Romania to an association made of Swietelsky – Strabag – Alstom – Arcada – Euro Construct – Transferoviar Group.
