Fewer second-hand cars registered in Romania in first four months, Volkswagen and Opel remain among favorites

The number of second-hand cars registered in the first four months dropped by around 10 percent to over 64,200 units. Romanians’ favorite brands were Volkswagen, Opel and Ford, according to data from the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration DRPCIV. In April, the number of registered second-cars reached 17,420 units, down 4.7 percent year-on-year. Between January-April, Volkswagen remained among Romanians’ favorites, with over 18,000 units, followed by Opel - 11,424 cars and Ford - 7,578 units. In terms of new cars registered in the first four months, the number dropped by almost six percent in April, to over 4,900 units, while in the first four months, it went up to 18,277 units. Romania’s car fleet reached a total of 5.98 million vehicles in 2013, up some 5 percent year-on-year. From the total number of cars, some 4.6 million were passenger cars.
