Fewer relay broadcasting services subscribers in Romania in the first half of 2011

The number of relay broadcasting services subscribers in Romania was 5.7 million in the first half of 2011, down 0.6 percent compared to end 2010, mainly due to the 8 percent decrease in the number of subscribers to satellite networks relay service (DTH), which descended to 2.2 million, according to data provided by the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM).

However, the number of subscribers to cable retransmission networks increased in the first half of the year by 4 percent to a total of 3.5 million, while the number of the IPTV technology subscribers also went up by 28 percent to 0.4 million.
