Few economic measures, more meetings and administration staff changes for Romania's new Govt.

The Government led by social democrat Victor Ponta (in picture), who is 100 days into office, has so far issued 16 emergency ordinances, 17 law projects, inaugurated two highway segments, and re-instated salaries for pensioners and for public employees. A review of the Government's activity in the first 100 days after taking office shows 17 Government meetings and the attendance of 19 TV shows, five meetings with foreign state officials and two with business people from Chambers of Commerce, according to Ziarul Financiar. The local newspaper underlines the lack of measures to help the country's economy.

The new Government offered state aid for IT companies- EUR 100 million- and under its ruling, Romania's largest electricity producer Hidroelectrica became insolvent. The Government also named 500 people in various positions in the country's administration. Meanwhile, Romania only contracted EUR 425 million in EU funding in the first four months of the year, making it less likely to reach the EUR 3 billion target for this year. The Government faced severe drought, which will affect the agricultural output and most likely the country's economic growth this year, but took few measures to fight it: damages payment for small farmers, reduction of electricity tariffs for irrigation.
