Fed Cup: Romania vs Czech Republic to be decided after doubles match

Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova won her second match in the Fed Cup encounter between Romania and the Czech Republic in Cluj-Napoca. She beat Romania’s Monica Niculescu in three sets, ended 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, after defeating Simona Halep on Saturday in the opening match. Both Halep and Niculescu managed to beat Petra Kvitova, so the score is now 2-2. This year’s Fed Cup semifinalist will be decided after the doubles match between Romanian pair Andreea Mitu/Raluca Olaru and Czech Duo Barbora Strycova/Denisa Allertova. The losing team will have to fight one of the winners in World Group II to remain among the top eight women’s tennis teams in the world. In the other matches in the World Group, France beat Italy 4-1 and Russia lost at home to the Netherlands 1-3. Germany and Switzerland were tied 2-2.
