Euromonitor: Direct selling to reach almost EUR 400 mln in 2015 in Romania

Romanians will spend EUR 383 million in 2015 for personal care, beauty products and food purchased through the direct sales system, an increase compared to 2010, when they paid EUR 278.9 million, according to a recent study by Euromonitor, provided at the request of Romania-Insider.com. The total retail market in Romania is expected to reach EUR 35.8 billion by that time. Last year, the retailing market stood at EUR 22 billion, according to Euromonitor. The direct sales segment recorded a decrease last year compared to 2009, according to the study. However, the value of products sold through direct selling in Romania almost doubled since 2005, for values registered in the Romanian currency. Romanians will allot EUR 339 million for beauty and personal care products purchased through direct sales and EUR 18.7 million for food and drinks bought through the same system in 2015, according to the Euromonitor forecast. Consumer healthcare products will reach some EUR 5.9 million through direct selling in 2015, the forecasts goes on. The forecasted values were registered in RON and turned into EUR at a rate of RON 4.22/EUR. In Romania, the direct selling market is shared by Avon, Amway, Oriflame Cosmetics and Forever Living Products International, among others.
