Estimate: Gas production goes up in Romania, imports remain the same

Romania’s gas production will increase by 4.5% in the next three years whereas the imports will remain at the low levels of 2015, according to the National Prognosis Commission (CNP). The gas production will raise from 8.46 million tons of oil equivalent (toe) in 2016 to 8.46 million toe in 2017, up 1.3% year-on-year. It will further go up to 8.58 million toe in 2018, up 1.5%, and then it will reach 8.73 million toe in 2019, up 1.7% year-on-year, reports local Agerpres. Meanwhile, the gas imports will not change until 2019, and they will reach about 290,000 toe per year. The usable natural gas imports will represent 2.4% of the total primary energy resource imports in 2017 and 2018, and will reach 2.3% of the total in 2019. Romania’s energy resources will amount to 42 million toe in 2017, up 1.2% compared to this year, according to CNP. Of the total amount, 40.6 million toe are new primary energy resources, whereas 2.95 million toe represent the stock from the beginning of the year. editor@romania-insider.com
