Enel Green Power connects to grid EUR 340 million worth of wind farms in Romania

Enel Green Power, the green energy arm of utilities company Enel, has connected three new wind farms to the national grid- Elcomex EOL (Zephir I), Targusor (Zephir II) and Gebelesis — located in the Dobrogea region of Romania for a total installed capacity of 206 MW. The company invested EUR 340 million in these three wind farms, which will generate about 560 million kWh of energy each year, it announced. With these three new wind farms, Enel Green Power has reached a total installed wind capacity in Romania of around 500 MW. The Elcomex EOL wind farm comprises 52 wind turbines of 2.3 MW each for a total installed capacity of around 120 MW. Once fully operational, the new wind farm will be able to generate around 340 million kWh of energy each year. The Targusor wind farm has 26 wind turbines of 2.3 MW each for a total installed capacity of around 60 MW, and will generate more than 170 million kWh of energy per year when fully functional. The third, Gebeleisis, in Northern Dobrogea, has 5 wind turbines of 3 MW each and 6 wind turbines of 2 MW each for a total installed capacity of 27 MW. Once fully operational, it will be able to generate around 50 million kWh of energy each year. Enel has been active in Romania since 2005 on the local energy distribution market in Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia South regions of the country. Enel is a multinational energy sector group based in Italy with operations in 40 countries in Europe and Latin America. In 2011, the Enel Group's revenues reached above EUR 79.5 billion and net ordinary income was around EUR 4.1 billion. As of September 30, 2012, the Group has nearly 75,000 employees and operates a wide range of hydroelectric, thermoelectric, nuclear, geothermal, wind, solar and other renewable power plants.
