Encyclopedia Romania launches after three years of work

Covering everything Romanian, from geography and geology to history and culture, the arts and sciences a new Romanian encyclopedia, begun in 2009, is now complete. The Academia Română (Romanian Academy) will launch its New Encyclopedia of Romania tomorrow (November 20 ) after three years of work. The Academy's President Ionel Haiduc, former Romanian Prime Minister Petre Roman and former Presidents of the nation Ion Iliescu and Emil Constantinescu will attend the launch event, which starts at 10:00 in the Academy. Ambitious in scale, throughout the project the Academia Română has brought in academics and experts from a variety of fields and institutions. According to the Academy, 300 people from 75 academic institutions in Romania and beyond have contributed to the encyclopedia. It was an open project from the beginning and the wide range of contributors worked with more than 70 members of the Academia Română to complete the Herculean task. editor@romania-insider
