Employees in Romania's public sector get new round of wage increases

The wages of several categories of public sector employees will grow by up to 25% in gross value starting June. The MPs approved the wage increases yesterday. The salaries of the staff working for environmental agencies and consumer protection agencies will increase by 20% next month. Besides that, the salaries of doctors working in defense, public order and national security will go up by 25% starting this June. The Chamber of Deputies also approved yesterday an amendment that grants scholarships to students during holidays too. The scholarship amounts to RON 201 (EUR 44). However, the Parliament rejected the amendment providing that students benefit from free train transport regardless of age. editor@romania-insider.com
