Largest online retailer in Romania sets date for Black Friday 2018

eMag, the largest online retailer in Romania based on turnover, organizes this year's Black Friday on November 16, according to the company’s CEO Iulian Stanciu. “We want to have time to deliver all the orders by the November 30-December 1 mini-holiday,” Stanciu said, according to local Mediafax. eMag was the first to bring this international concept to Romania in 2011. The retailer registered sales of RON 360 million (some EUR 77.5 million) during Black Friday 2017, a figure 20% higher than the one registered the previous year. In May this year, following an investigation in the e-commerce sector, the Romanian Competition Council said that online retailers don’t comply with the law during discount campaigns. Moreover, the Council also discovered that the reference price was increased or maintained artificially during last year’s Black Friday sales campaign.
