EC: Romanian economy to shrink 1.9% this year, grow 1.5% in 2011
Romania will record an 1.5 percent growth of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2011, while this year it will shrink by 1.9 percent from 2009, shows the autumn economic forecast issued by the European Commission.

Should the current economic policies remain unchanged, the Romanian GDP would grow 3.8 percent in 2012, the Commission said. Other forecasts made by the European Union for Romania in 2011: the unemployment rate will stand at 7.4 percent (down from 7.5 pct in 2010) and the inflation rate will be 5.5 percent, down from 6.1 percent this year. The Romanian gross public debt in 2011 will account for 33.4 percent of GDP, up from 30.4 percent of GDP at end-2010, the Commission said. AGERPRES
