Durable goods market in Romania reaches EUR 347 mln in the third quarter, GfK report

The durable goods market in Romania posted a double digit growth in the third quarter of the year, which was also the third quarter in a row of growth for this market, according to the recent GfK TEMAX report. It reached EUR 347 million in Q3 this year, while staying at EUR 306 million in the second quarter. The market posted a growth of 11.5 percent in the first nine months of 2011 compared to the same period last year.

The IT segment in Romania recorded a growth of 26.6 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2011, while the small appliances sector posted a growth of 15.8 percent, compared to the major household appliances' growth of 1 percent. The photo market also posted a year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2011, of 15.6 percent, reaching a level of EUR 13 million. This growth was mainly sustained by the bi increase reported in July, 2011, according to the GfK report. The growth posted by the telecom market in Romania was of 13.9 percent in the third quarter, compared to the same period in 2010, mainly due to the smartphones segment. After long periods of consecutives decreases, the printers and multifunctional products market also grew by 13.6 percent in the third quarter, compared to the value posted in the same period in 2010, up to EUR 7 million. In the third quarter of 2011, the electronics market also posted an increase of 2.3 percent in Romania, up to EUR 53 million, according to the GfK TEMAX report.
