DCS sees growth on digital TV, Internet, plans to invest EUR 10 million this year

The Romanian telecom market should see a comeback in the second half of this year, after the economic environment will stabilize in the first part of the year, according to Dinu Malacopol, CEO of Digital Cable Systems. The company plans to invest EUR 10 million this year in consolidating its network and in new acquisitions, Malacopol has said. The company plans to grow its revenues by 10 percent on TV services, mainly from the digital TV. Malacopol expects the Internet segment to continue to develop, as the market is far from saturation, while he also sees the digital TV on an upwards trend. He plans to grow DCS's revenues from the Internet acces services by 20 percent, while at least tripling the number of landline phone customers. “The telecom market is relatively robust and was less affected by the economic turmoil, compared to others in the last two years. A comeback of growth will probably be seen in the second half of the year, because in the first part of the year we will need an economic stabilization and the adjustment to all the measures implemented and the actions from 2010,” said Malacopol. DCS was set up in 2005 through the merger of several cable companies. It offers cable TV services, data transmission and Internet access solutions, as well as landline telephony for retail and corporate customers. editor@romania-insider.com
