Danone sales up 10% in Romania, above European average

Dairy producer Danone Romania saw its sales increase by over 10 percent in Romania in the first half of the year, according to Ziarul Financiar, quoting information from the company. The company has a market share of 60 percent in Romania and posted a turnover of EUR 102 million last year. Last year, its net profit went down compared to a year before, reaching around EUR 6.4 million. Danone's sales in Europe went up by 10 percent only in Ukraine, Poland the Scandinavian countries and Denmark. Overall, its sales in Europe went up by 1.7 percent. Its total sales were of EUR 8.3 billion, an increase of 7 percent on the first half of 2008. In Europe, Danone sold EUR 4.6 billion of products in the first six months of the year.
