Banks in Romania need to manage distressed assets very efficiently through restructuring and sales. Romania needs to develop a market for buying and selling non-performing corporate loans and bad loans guaranteed by individuals, reads a Deloitte study, cited by local Mediafax. By comparison, the market for bad consumer loans is already well developed. Banks also need to implement risk management systems and improved analysis techniques to ensure customer profitability through segmentation and differential pricing. They also need to develop their range of products to offer small and medium-sized enterprises more value-added services, such as treasury and cash management products.
