Only 10% of company groups in Romania are controlled by residents

Romania had some 51,500 groups of companies at the end of last year. Only 10% of them were controlled by residents whereas the rest were part of multinationals. These were mostly controlled by companies or people from Germany (17.5%), the Netherlands (11.9%), and France (10.8%), according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). Romania thus saw about 5,300 groups of resident companies and over 46,000 multinational groups. Most groups of companies in Romania were active in trade (32%), constructions (13%), and the manufacturing industry (10%). The number of groups of companies in Romania rose by 15.5% in 2014 compared to 2013. editor@romania-insider.com
