CMU secures EUR 18.3 mln financing from Raiffeisen Bank to expand hospitals network

Private healthcare services operator Centrul Medical Unirea (CMU) has taken three loans from Raiffeisen Bank totaling EUR 18.32 million, to expand its network with a hospital and three clinics. Some of the amount will also be used to new equipments and for hiring medical staff. CMU plans to double its staff, which currently stays at 1,000 doctors. CMU runs four hospitals in Bucharest, a maternity in Bucharest, a hospital in Brasov and 23 polyclinics. It also owns half of the stem cell bank Stem – Health Unirea in Bucharest. The company took over Euroclinic hospital and clinics from Eureko in September last year. CMU posted an estimated EUR 30 million turnover last year and plans to double it in the next two to three years, according to Romanian media. It is majority owned by investment fund Advent, which took over 80 percent of its shares in march last year. The rest of the shares are owned by founder Wargha Enayati. editor@romania-insider.com
