Japanese companies interested in Cluj-Napoca subway project

Companies from Japan are interested in Cluj-Napoca’s project to develop a subway transport system in the city, according to Cluj-Napoca mayor Emil Boc. The municipality will first make a pre-feasibility study to assess the costs and the possible route of the subway. According to Boc, the subway is a long-term project as it is estimated that in 20-30 years Cluj-Napoca will reach one million inhabitants, local Mediafax reported. At that moment it would be too late for the authorities to think of such a project. The pre-feasibility and feasibility studies will show how much of the subway will be on the surface and how much underground, how many stops it will have and where they will be located as well as the costs and financing scheme. editor@romania-insider.com
