Chinese Beike Biotech opens rehabilitation center based on stem cell treatment in Romania

Beike Biotechnology, a biotechnology company focusing on adult stem cell therapies, has opened a rehabilitation center in Campina, which uses traditional Chinese-style rehabilitation techniques. The new Romanian center is Beike's first stand-alone rehabilitation facility in the world, the company has announced. The new 240 square-meter center provides traditional Chinese acupuncture, massage, physical therapy, physiotherapy, electrotherapy and medical exercise-based techniques to help patients with neurological and autoimmune diseases. The center was set up at the initiative of Razvan Iordache, who has suffered a spinal cord injury in 1995 from a diving accident. “After 11 years of therapy in Romania, Razvan traveled to a leading hospital in China that used Beike stem cells for his first treatment, in 2006. Each of the four times Razvan returned from China, local media focused on his story and the changes in his abilities that coincided with his journeys. As a result, over the last four years more than 128 people have traveled to China from Romania to receive Beike's stem cell treatments at China's leading hospitals,” says the company in a statement. Beike's scientists have been focused on the development and commercialization of adult stem cell therapies since 1999. The company currently produces stem cell products from umbilical cord, cord blood, and bone marrow stem cells. The Romanian market has seen the entry of several players on the newly created stem cell market, mainly with blood banks. Another company, Concorde, has recently announced it will open the first stem cell treatment center in Adunatii Copaceni.
