Over 0.5 mln change phone providers in Romania in seven months

Over 536,000 fixed and mobile phone customers transferred their numbers to a different provider in the first seven months of this year, up 5% over the same period last year, according to Romania’s telecom regulator ANCOM. Over 94% of the transferred numbers came from mobile phone networks. Telecom operator RCS&RDS welcomed over 54% of the total transfers in mobile networks, namely almost 274,000 numbers. The figure increased by 19.9% compared to the first seven months of 2016. RCS&RDS managed to attract over 51,500 new customers through transfer from others networks in January. However, the transfers to the RCS&RDS network decreased to around 28,600 in July. Orange Romania ranked second, with over 102,000 transfers to its networks in the first seven months of the year. It was followed by Vodafone Romania, which attracted 85,890 customers through transfer during this period. editor@romania-insider.com
